Yay, an Update!

Fri Nov 9, 2007, 8:54 PM
(Insert comment about how bad I am about updating my journal, and an empty promise to do better.)

Wee! So I've been kind of lagging behind on all creative endeavours the last few months, then suddenly a bunch of stuff hits me at once.
I'm working on some dragon commissions now (most of the stuff I'll be uploading will be commission pieces), as well as a new line of odd little things.
I won't give too many details on the new line, since it'll be awhile before anyone sees anything from that. I'll probably be opening a new Etsy shop for this stuff though, and the Igors and other creepy stuff will be moved into that shop as well.

Pinecone and Nyx are no longer fuzzy baby kittens, though they're still growing. Pinecone is a bit skittish and spooky at times, though when she wants to be petted she has no problem cuddling up with the nearest human. She also eats just about everything, including a dead leaf that blew in the house a few days ago.
Nyxie is a cuddle fiend ... as long as you're either at the computer, trying to read, or trying to sleep.

Guess that's about it for now. I'm still accepting commissions - just drop me an e-mail at aetheria.blue@gmail.com if you're interested. If you'd like to have something before Christmas, please let me know as soon as possible!

You can also see what I currently have for sale in my Etsy Shop - [link]

And, as always, thanks for all the comments, befriendings, and views. :)

Another Month, Another Journal.

Wed Aug 15, 2007, 11:39 PM
Welcome to another exciting installment of "What's Going On In Echo's Life!?"
Lessee... work, sculpting, gaming, reading, and a couple camping trips.

Firstly, a link to my store - [link]
And with love to the deviantART community and other nifty people who visit my gallery and might possibly glance at my journal, free shipping in the US and Canada on purchases over $30 for anyone who mentions seeing this offer untiiiiiiil ... September 26th. So if you buy something, just don't pay the shipping cost. If it won't allow you to go through the payment without the shipping included, drop me a note or e-mail about it and I'll send you a new invoice.
And if you just don't want to go through all the trouble with Etsy (even though it's a great site with lots of neat stuff that's almost all hand-made), either e-mail me (aetheria.blue@gmail.com) or note me, and I'll remove a listing so you can purchase directly from me.

Now on to other stuff.

<begin HP fangirl nerddom>
Last month I was one of THOSE PEOPLE who hung around a bookstore for hours (though that's not unusual for me) in order to get the new Harry Potter book right away. I decided to go to Barnes & Noble because I went to Borders last time, and then read about all these nifty things that B&N did. I regret it now, because I discovered that most of the nifty stuff was done throughout the day, and by the time I got there the only things left were a magic show that I couldn't see because they weren't letting people in the store until other people had left it, and a costume contest. Little kids dressed up in Hogwarts robes = Cuteness. Big, hairy, middle aged men dressed up in Hogwarts robes = Not so cuteness. Personally, I thought the most interesting one was the little boy dressed up as a Death Eater.
As for the book itself ... no spoilers from me, but I can't say I was terribly satisfied with the ending, though I'll re-read the series in a few months so I can decide if it was because it wasn't a great ending, or just because I was upset with the fact that there would be no more.
</end HP fangirl nerddom>

I'm now trying to read Fool's Fate, by Robin Hobb. Having a hard time getting into it though, because it's another "last book". I hate last books for really good series. Of course, I also hate when they just drag on and on, seemingly without end in sight, and then you lose interest after the fifth or sixth book, and you almost start wishing Richard would just die already. Wait, no, I kid.

This is probably my longest journal entry ever, and I should probably just end it because I'm sure I've lost everyone's interest by now, but oh well. I have more to say!

I recently discovered a band called Abney Park, and while I rarely recommend bands, I'm going to this time because I enjoy them so much. They offer some free mp3 downloads on their website, which can be found here [link] (click on The Vault for the music). Stigmata Martyr is one of my personal favourites.

[Half an hour pause during which I smell a skunk, listen to a few songs, chat with a couple friends, and wonder if your eyeballs would catch on fire if you stared at the sun too long while wearing glasses.]

Mmyep. I'm done now.

Baby Dragons!

Fri Jun 22, 2007, 6:34 AM
So I figured I should probably update my journal, even though it's been less than four whole months since my last entry. I'm sure this puts me in danger of becoming an obsessive blogger, but such is the risk of doing business on the web.

As is probably becoming evident, I've recently become addicted to making baby dragons. Stumpy tailed pudgy little things with tiny little claws and shortened snouts. Personally, I think they're terribly cute, and I have a hard time posting them for sale, but such is the way it must be.

And for anyone who is interested, you can check out my Etsy store at [link]

If you have any questions about the dragons listed in the store, or you're interested in commissioning a dragon just drop me a note in whichever way is most convenient for you - Etsy Conversation, deviantART note, e-mail (aetheria.blue@gmail.com).

In other news... I now have three kitties. I discovered Nyxie on Craigslist and got her as an early Mother's Day surprise, and then a few weeks later I found a tiny little grey tabby kitten at the side of the road underneath a pine tree. She was covered in sap and just crying the most pathetically miserable little mews ever. She wasn't feral, she let me pick her up without so much as a hiss. I REALLY, REALLY DISLIKE PEOPLE WHO DUMP ANIMALS. Especially since it's so easy to give kittens away in a city this size, or even do just a tiny amount of research to find a no-kill shelter to take them to. I'll stop now before I start ranting. I'm just glad I was in the right place at the right time and found poor little Pinecone. Never was also a 'dumpee', so our oldest and younges felines are foundlings, and the middle child is just a troublemaker. I'll try and get pictures of them all up soon, though I'm not sure why I don't have one of Never here already.

In other other news, I've been updating my banners, making new business cards (some that double as bookmarks - an incredibly creative idea that I came up with all by myself and am ever so pleased about), and I think I might re-design my certificates of authenticity, even though they do look nice now. I'm just wanting a change. I'm also thinking about making different CoAs for the Igors.

And finally, I'd like to thank Pat and the other people at Polyform Products for giving me such excellent customer service. I wrote a ranty e-mail about my favourite clay (Premo!) being unworkable because every block I bought recently was way too soft, and was fully expecting an automated response that wouldn't be at all helpful, so I was pleasantly shocked when an actual person responded.
Since I can't actually think of a way to make a long story short here, I'll probably just make a journal entry for it later, but I will say that I am so far pleased with how things are progressing, and hope to be using Premo for years to come.

And for the REAL finally - Thanks to everyone who has stopped by to look, be-friend, comment, and +fav. Some day I'll get around to responding to everyone, but please know that even if I don't actually respond, I do read the comments and appreciate all the other things. I'm just, you know, lazy. :)

Still Alive

Thu Mar 1, 2007, 6:39 AM
Wow, it's been awhile since I updated here (ooh, big surprise there, huh?). Let's see then...

The Dragons for Bandit commission sold to a wonderful, wonderful customer of mine on Etsy. Bandit had his surgery in early January and recovered quite well. He was down and out for about three days, and then decided he had enough rest and boredom in our 'hospital cage'. He was back to jumping at the barrier within a week.
The person who bought the commission liked Rosebud and Thorn a lot. After two unsuccessful attempts to create another set of twins similar to those two, I finally gave up and asked her if she'd just like Rosebud and Thorn, which she did. Besides them I have finished four other pieces - an Igor, a unidragon, and a Forest Baby similar to Niboo, these will all have pictures up soon, as she just received them in the mail the other day (I'm letting her be the first to see them). I just finished another Wyvern for her last night, it'll probably be awhile before pictures of that one are up.

My computer died a most horrible death. My smaller harddrive survived, but my really big one with almost everything on it is kaput (I'm honestly not a very technical person, but I kinda think that might be what killed the computer, since the smaller HD, power supply, RAM, video card, and DVD drives are all working, and have been frankensteined into an older computer which I am on now). Luckily I had most of my pictures still on the small drive, so I didn't lose those, which makes it not so bad. Trying to save up for a new one, which isn't going so well, as I'm a terrible 'saver', and most of my money has to go to annoying things like food and shelter.

Aaand I got a part time job doing inventory auditing. I have to say I like it a lot better than working at a call center, and I'm not dissolving into a puddle of tears when I go to work.

I'd ramble on some more, even though nobody ever reads this, but now it's time for the sleepings. Good morningnight, er... everyone.

Dragons for Bandit

Sun Dec 17, 2006, 7:47 AM
Hi everyone!

It looks like my baby Bandit :thumb26752440: has decided to be an "average ferret" and get an adrenal tumor now that he's celebrated his third birthday. :(

It's been a pretty tough year with my mom being in the hospital quite a few times, and me having a hard time finding a job.

Sooooooo I'm really really hoping that there's someone out there who might want to get a pretty good deal on 12 dragons of their very own.

You can find details here - [link]

If anyone is interested, but doesn't want to sign up for Etsy.com, I'm willing to work something out (either a direct sale, or I can make a listing on eBay).
All other items currently in my Etsy store will also be used to fund Bandit's surgery.

Donations will also be gratefully accepted, either by PayPal - aetheria.blue@gmail.com, or you can drop me a note for my home address.

I'm also accepting commissions for dragons or Igors or just about anything else that I'm capable of making. Commission price is $30 per piece.
